Real MOVEMENT Way

"I want to do Real MOVEMENT."

It's time to call bullshit on this whole training thing. If it's about handstands and squat numbers for you then please don't read on. In fact. Stop following my stuff and stay out of my life.

I'm building an elite crew with a dream. We grow the community and the dream everyday. Movement is the vehicle. Never the Destination.

"I want to do Real MOVEMENT."

I hear this fairly often, I get asked for training programs everyday. Some people want to do things that don't interest me at all. Some want to train like me. Whatever they're after I always feel a little awkward and deflect.

I've been reflecting on why.

I don't want to take your power. When you submit to a method you switch off and stop learning. I love giving pushes and the next step but if I map your A-Z path I think everyone loses. I don't want to be your movement God. I want to walk beside you and learn with you.

What does it take to walk with RealMOVEMENT?

More than anything it's a philosophy, a way of life.

So what is Real MOVEMENT Way at the heart?

"Be better than yesterday. Share your journey."

Sure we use methods and systems. Dense Strength Method, Loaded Mobility, Weightlifting Progressions, Power Assessments, but these things are just tools and without the philosophy they have no heart. There is no joy in sharing these things with people who don't have a Way. A mission. A bigger WHY>??

Yesterday I challenged RealMOVEMENT Community to make a 2 minute tutorial on something they are passionate about. What came back was outstanding. It's people sharing and showing the world what they love. For some this was uncomfortable. They started with things to decrease expectations of what is to follow.

Why I loved the responses we got was because people were MOVING. It's in ACTION that the world changes. Thoughts Made Physical. I want to see your dreams without having to ask you for them. I want to see them in where and how you live your life. When you see Keegan Smith social media you see what I do. But more importantly I try to get across why. When someone really sees and feels the why then there is a shift that can shake the world.

I just received this message while typing this blog..

G'day Keegs,

Been a while! Just thought I should write and say gday and I've been wanting to let you know that the day me and Nick spent up at your place has been an absolute life changer.

I've been able to take my training to the next level in the last 12 months and am feeling healthier and stronger than ever. I hit 3 big PRs this month I've been chasing for a while now - 70kg snatch, 90kg clean, and he 200kg deadlift - all of which I attribute a significant proportion of, to the few hours we spent at your place.

A program might have got this performance result but not the change in self. My friend saw a philosophy that day. Now it's his.

Decision.

Very rarely do we actually make one. The roots of the word are to CUT OFF from all other possibilities.

People often talk about waiting for their chance. Looking for an opportunity. Seeing what comes along.

To me this is the worst thing we can do.

Never wait. Move forward towards what you want everyday.

I know the end point. I know where I am today. I know where I need to be in the next few weeks. And that's about it. 5-year plan?? F*%k knows. What will the world even look like in 5-years? I believe in the power of a bigger vision and daily and weekly tasks that move towards it. A beach is nothing without grains of sand and so all we have to work with is grains.

On Friday a performance coach from the RealMOVEMENT Mentorship called me. I had no idea what it was about. Sometimes the news on these calls is challenging. Turns out he hit his NUMBER. At 14 members for his personalised training he's about to quit his full-time job in construction because he's making just as much from 12 hours of work on the side. Now he's about to start aboriginal community performance / wellness programs and work towards his own training facility in the next 12 months.

Now when I started with this guy he was scared. I almost had to club him over the head to drag him into the community. I saw huge opportunity. He was scared. But one way or another he made it into the RealMOVEMENT Mentorship. Now he can see a path of passion away from the 40 years of spending all day on something he wasn't passionate about to pay bills and feed a family.

MAKE A DECISION.

Please.

Base it on your philosophy for life?

What is it that you live by?

What do you want to be remembered by?

Send me a message with your One Sentence decision (any more and it won't hold the same power). Read it everyday until it's real. Then send me another message.
