More Creativity? Try Nature.

More and more science is telling us that nature holds the answers. Whether it's morning sun for fat loss (metabolic balance) or getting your shoes off and breathing the forrest air, the research is building. Nature matters.

The article below details how this is changing children's brains.

In her famous essay the Ecology of Imagination in Childhood, Edith Cobb proposed that contact with nature stimulates creativity. Reviewing the biographies of 300 "geniuses", she exposed a common theme: intense experiences of the natural world in the middle age of childhood (between five and 12). Child research should be extrapolated out to adults, we get the same effects, maybe a bit slower, but we're not so different.

Want to be more creative? Move out of the city or at least spend time in the park. When I lived in Coogee, Sydney I rode through Centennial Park everyday on the way to work at the Sydney Roosters. Regardless of how busy the day was between starting this business, running the performance program and having a wife and baby, the park was always a time of peace. Even when I sprinted on my bike the ducks and asian tourists always helped me step back.

Today I live on 100 acres and can be on the property I live on and not be able to see any other signs of human life. Lots of nature and space to breath, think and meditate. When I take my nearly 2 year old daughter on bush walks she is always at peace.

As humans we need nature's healing. This is not optional for optimal health and wellness. Movement, nutrition and nature are all essentials to be the best we can be. What else would you want to aim for in life?

Take Home

Spend 5 minutes in nature everyday and make time for a bush walk or play in the park every week.
